Jason Paul Masterson, a cherished husband, father, son, and brother, passed on January 22, 2026 at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Mishawaka at the age of 51. The son of Fred and Rita (Culp) Masterson, Jason was born at Parkview Hospital in Plymouth on January 9, 1975.
After meeting through their mutual friend, Ben, Jason spent countless hours at McDonalds in LaPaz where Nikki Spiegel worked convincing her to go on a date with him. After she agreed, the rest was history and they were united in marriage on June 9, 2000 at the Marshall County Courthouse. They had four children, Tabitha, Paige, Ashton, and Alexis. As a family, they started an annual tradition of visiting Louisville to see the Christmas lights at Lights Under Louisville.
Known for his goofy yet stubborn personality, Jason brought laughter to those around him. He enjoyed scrolling through TikTok and diving into conspiracy theory videos about Bigfoot, UFOs, and Dog Man on YouTube. Despite his playful complaints about the family's pets, he loved them deeply; even after a tripping mishap in the dark that left him with a broken tooth.
Jason was an extremely smart man; he had common sense and was always straight to the point. He had a mechanical mind that gave him the skillset to work on cars. He shared this passion with his son, Ashton, and they built his truck together from the ground up. He flourished during his time working for the City of Plymouth; he enjoyed his co-workers and was passionate about his knowledge of the inner workings of the city.
Jason will be sorely missed by his father, Fred; wife, Nikki; their children, Tabitha (Michael) Dunfee, Paige Masterson, Ashton (Analiese) Masterson, and Alexis Masterson; grandchildren, Olivia, Emily, Hazel, Jensen, and Anakin (AKA – “Larry”); and siblings, Brian (Sheri) Masterson, Rhonda (John) Polinski, Beth (Gaylord) Johnson, and Amanda (Jim) Branden. He will also be missed by his mother-in-law, Vicky Harmon and her children, Anegla Owens and Jamie Spiegel; along with his fur babies, Jaxs, Bella, and Ebony.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Rita; father-in-law, Doug Harmon; and niece, Jeanette Masterson.
Per Jason’s wishes, no formal services will be held.
