Jean L. Riddle, 99, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 9, 2026, at Miller’s Merry Manor in Plymouth. Born on March 23, 1927, Jean was the daughter of Elmer and Frances (King) Poor.
A blind date led Jean to the love of her life, Rollan O. Riddle. The two were united in marriage on August 29, 1948, at the Church of Christ in Plymouth. Together, they built a beautiful life centered around family, faith, and the simple joys of being together while raising their daughters, Barbara and Suzanne.
Family was at the heart of Jean’s life. She treasured her role as a mother and grandmother, finding her greatest happiness in the time spent with those she loved. She especially enjoyed doting on her grandchildren and watching her family grow through the generations. Family gatherings, particularly around the holidays, were occasions she looked forward to, cherishing the opportunity to have everyone together.
Jean's faith was an important part of who she was. As a longtime member of Inwood United Methodist Church, she faithfully served as treasurer, played the organ, and participated in the ladies group. She also took pride in her career as a teller at 1st Source Bank.
Jean had a creative spirit and a talent for working with her hands. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, chair caning, ceramics, cross-stitch, and painting wooden plaques. In her younger years, she found joy tending to her flower and vegetable gardens or casting a line at her favorite fishing hole; reading and working word search puzzles became favorite pastimes later in life. Some of her fondest memories were made traveling and exploring new places with Rollan or enjoying an evening of cards and good company with friends.
Jean is survived by her daughters, Barbara Welch and Suzanne (Doug) Feece; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; and her in-laws, Robert (Connie) Riddle and David Jordan; along with several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Rollan; parents; great-grandchild, Luke Austin Welch; brothers, Raymond, Robert, Richard, and Russel Poor; and her half-siblings.
Visitation will be held Friday, October 16, 2026, from 5:00–7:00 p.m. at Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan Street, Plymouth. Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 17, at 9:30 a.m., with doors opening at 9:00 a.m.
Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Plymouth.
