Jeffrey K. Yates, 57, passed away peacefully in his family farm home at 1:30 a.m. with is family by his bedside on Wednesday, June 14, 2017.
Jeff was born in Bremen, Indiana on January 9, 1960 to Jimmy L. Yates and Mary Jane (Koontz) Neidlinger. He graduated from LaVille High School with the class of 1978, where he still holds many basketball records today.
He was owner and operator of J & Y Services from 1978-2017, handling excavating projects and hauling heavy equipment. Jeff loved the outdoors: fishing, boating, cookouts and bonfires with his family. He loved Peterbilt Trucks and going on motorcycle rides.
He is survived by his three girls: Shelly (Andy) Hartman of Plymouth, Amanda (Jeremy) Price of Plymouth and Melita (Matt) Green of Plymouth; his mother and step-father, Mary Jane (Dale) Neidlinger of Plymouth; 6 grandchildren: Allissa, Austin, Quintin, Madison, Morgan and Maddox; brother, Jim (Nancy) Yates of Goshen; brother-in-law, John Morrical of South Bend; step-siblings: Vickie (Al) Neher and Connie (Ed) Helmuth of Bremen; good friend, Mark Whitaker of South Bend; and many nieces and nephews.
Jeff was preceded in death by his father, Jimmy, sister, Jacqueline Sue Morrical, and step-father, Richard Faurote.
A family Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
Private family service and burial will be in the New Oak Hill Cemetery.
