John R. (Bob) Webster

Lifetime Plymouth resident, John Robert “Bob” Webster, 89, 439 Charles St. , died of natural causes after a one year illness, at 6 a.m. on Friday, December 27, 2002. Bob died in Miller’s Merry Manor, Plymouth. Born in West township on October 3, 1913 , Bob was the son of John Richard and Bessie Dee Webster. He attended Plymouth High School . On May 14, 1949, in Logansport, Ind., Bob and Lois Jean Cook were married. For 35 years Bob drove for the Indiana Motor Bus Company. During all of that time, he never had a chargeable accident. He loved gardening and yard work. He was an expert at refinishing antique furniture and did chair caning as a hobby. Bob was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Plymouth. Twenty-seven years ago, Bob had quadruple by-pass heart surgery, the first to be performed in South Bend and was a member of the Mended Heart Club. Bob is survived by Lois, his wife of 53 years and a son, Gary L. (Louise) Webster, Noblesville, Ind. Three granddaughters, a grandson, and two great grandsons also survive. The granddaughters are: Dr. Emily (Marc) Szewczyk, and their sons Paul & Evan, of Indianapolis ; Lisa (Ryan) Moore and Erin Webster and grandson Joseph Webster, all of Noblesville , Ind. Of the 17 siblings in Bob’s family, two sisters Evelyn Claeys, Bremen , and Phyllis Cook, Goshen , survive together with R. Clarence Webster, a brother, living in Plymouth . A brother-in-law, Dr. Theodore Decker and a sister-in-law, Leona Webster, both of Plymouth , plus numerous nephews and nieces survive as well. He was preceded in death by his parents and 14 brothers and sisters. Visitation with family and friends will be from 3 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, December 29, 2002 , in the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St. , Plymouth . Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 30, 2002, at 2 p.m. in the funeral home. The Rev. Charles Krieg, pastor of the Salem United Methodist Church, Bremen, will officiate. Burial will be in New Oakhill Cemetery. Memorial gifts may be made to the American Heart or Lung Associations.
