Jose Lopez Rodriquez, 48, passed away from health complications on Sunday December 27, 2020 at the St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Mishawaka.
He was born October 2, 1972 in Jalisco, Mexico to Gabriel Lopez and Esperanza Rodriguez.
In June of 1991, Jose married Maria del Rosario Marquez and they would eventually make it to America sometime later. After many years of moving around state to state, they eventually came to settle in Plymouth to start a permanent home for their kids.
In 2006 he took a leap of faith in his dream of owning his own business. He founded Mi Camino Real Restaurant in Plymouth. Jose took pride in his family-ran restaurant and was respected by many friends of the community that he met along the way.
Jose was a hard-working, jack-of-all trades. He enjoyed finding something new to fix, always wanting to be learning new skills along the way.
Jose is survived by his loving wife, Maria del Rosario Lopez, and their children: Rene Lopez, Susana Lopez, Jose (Yennyfer Romero) Lopez and Jennifer Lopez-Marquez; grandson who he loved, Julian Jose Lopez; and his brothers, Gabriel Lopez-Rodriguez and Oscar Lopez-Rodriguez.
He was preceded in death by his father Gabriel and sister, Teresa Lopez-Rodriguez.
Mass will be held on Tuesday January 5, 2021 at 1 p.m. at St. Michael Catholic Church, 612 N. Walnut Street, Plymouth. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until the start of mass at 1 p.m. with Fr. Eloy Jimenez officiating.
PLEASE NOTE: For your protection, the entire funeral home staff will wear masks. It is mandated that family members and their guests do so as well.
