Julia A. Johnson, 84, a lifetime Marshall County resident, living at 501 Pennsylvania Ave., Plymouth, for the past ten years, died of natural causes at 11:02 p.m. on Friday, November 4, 2005, in Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center, Plymouth.
Julia was a homemaker a loving wife and proud mother, first and foremost. Family meant so much in her life.
She was born in Plymouth, the daughter of Edward J. and Grace M. Fanning Bergman, on August 19, 1921. She graduated from Lincoln High School with the class of 1941.
On November 13, 1941, in St. Michael’s Church Rectory in Plymouth, Julia and Eugene “Gene” Johnson were married. Gene died on June 11, 1993.
An ardent Chicago Cub fan, she also cheered for the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame. She enjoyed all kinds of sporting and musical events in which her grandchildren and great-grandchildren participated.
Julia is survived by two daughters, a son and five grand-children.
The daughters are: Susan L. Rodgers and Kenneth D. Rodgers, Plymouth, and her children, Tana J. and Dan Houin, Melinda K. and Tim Lemler and Cheryl L. and John Caine.
Daughter Sandra J. and Bobby Wolfe and their daughter, Heather Wolfe, live in St. Lucie, Fla..
Her son and daughter-in-law is Thomas E. and Jane Johnson, Lake Bruce, Ind., with their daughter, Karrie C. Johnson
Seven great-grandchildren, a sister Margaret M. Peregine, a brother George A. Bergman both of Plymouth and several nieces and nephews survive as well.
Julia was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Gene, and by two sisters: Mary E. Kelsey and Martha Miller and two brothers: James Bergman and John E. “Eddie” Bergman.
Friends are invited to come to celebrate the life of Julia Johnson from 10 to 11 a.m. on Tuesday, November 8, 2005, in the church where she was a long time and faithful member, St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church, 615 N. Center St., Plymouth.
A rosary will be prayed at 10 a.m. in the church.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m., following calling. The Rev. Father Manuel Evangelista will officiate.
Interment will be in New Oakhill Cemetery, Plymouth, Ind.
Memorial gifts in Julia’s memory may be given to St. Michael’s Parish or in the form of Masses.
