Julia R. Griewank, 96, passed away of natural causes at 1:45 p.m. Tuesday, February 8, 2011 in the Pilgrim Manor Care Center. She was a lifetime Plymouth resident and lived on Hillcrest Avenue.

She was born in Plymouth on April 12, 1914 the daughter of Ernest O. and Mary M. (Seider) Holm. Julia graduated from Lincoln High School in the Class of 1932.

On April 27, 1947 in Plymouth she became the bride of Howard M. Griewank. He would precede her in death on February 2, 1989.

She is a longtime active member of the First United Church of Christ.

Julia had worked as a dental assistant for Dr. C.H. Dunfee in Plymouth and became a homemaker. She was involved with P.T.A. activities and served on the Election Board. Julia also had enjoyed sewing for the children, crocheting and reading.

Surviving are her three children: William H. Griewank of Knox, Mary Ellen and her husband Arthur Yeakey of Mishawaka and Jane A. Griewank of Plymouth. Also surviving are two grandsons: Andy Yeakey and Chip and his wife Marissa Yeakey and their son, great grandson Norman Yeakey.

Julia was preceded in death by her spouse, two sisters; Hattie Pifer and Lura Walker and a brother Kelso Holm.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 10th from 4 – 8 p.m. in the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan Street, Plymouth. Services will be held Friday at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home. The Rev. Robin Keating will officiate. Burial will follow in the New Oakhill Cemetery.
