Kathryn I. Kokko

July 16, 1925 — June 25, 2007

Kathryn I. “Kate” Kokko, 81, a resident of Plymouth since 1987, coming from Arlington Heights, Illinois. died of natural causes in Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center, Plymouth, at 11:15 p.m., Monday, June 25, 2007.

Kate was born in Argos, Indiana, on July 16, 1925, the daughter of Samuel and Gertrude Brooker McKee.

She graduated from Argos High School and the Chicago School of Nursing where she earned her cap as a Registered Nurse.

She was married to Raymond Kokko, who preceded her in death. In 2005, her longtime companion, Carl Steerup, Plymouth, also preceded her in death.

Kate retired in 1985 as the company nurse for the DuPont Corporation in Arlington Heights, Illinois.

She loved to travel and enjoyed fishing trips into Wisconsin. Known as a gal with a humorous disposition, she raised four generations of pet Boston Terriers.

Kate is survived by two nephews and families: John (Janice) Wolfe, Mishawaka, Indiana, and their children, Andrew Wolfe and Becky Wolfe and Larry (Sally) McKee, Plymouth, Indiana, and their son, Douglas McKee.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Sarah A. Wolfe and Helen Fox and a brother, Ermal McKee.

Friends are invited to remember Kate’s life with her family on Friday, June 29, 2007, from 2 to 3 p.m. in the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth, Indiana.

Funeral services for Kate will follow visitation at 3 p.m. on Friday with the Rev. Dr. Dean Fager, pastor of the First United Methodist Church, Plymouth, officiating.

Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Argos, Indiana.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Marshall County Humane Society, P.O. Box 22, Plymouth, IN 46563 or the American Heart Association.
