Kenneth Byron Thomas

Kenneth Byron Thomas, 67, a resident of Argos, Ind. since 1984, formerly of Marion, South Dakota, died of natural causes at his residence, 10515 East 12B Road, at 8:48 a.m. on Sunday, January 23, 2000.
Ken was born at home in Marion, South Dakota, on December 13, 1932, the son of Caleb and Ruth Ratzlaff Thomas. He was a 1951 graduate of Freeman Academy in Freeman, South Dakota.
On June 18, 1955, in the Calvary Baptist Church of Flemington, New Jersey, Ken and Ruth Stahl were married.
A self-employed dairy and grain farmer, Ken was a milk tester for the State of Indiana. He enjoyed the outdoors and anything that had to do with farming such as attending the livestock auctions in the area.
Ken accepted the Lord when he was twelve years old. He was baptized at sixteen and became a member of the Evangelical Mennonite Brethren Church in Marion, South Dakota, where he enjoyed singing in the choir and men’s choral groups. He attended the Sunrise Chapel in Plymouth.
Ruth, his wife, two daughters and two sons survive Ken’s death. The daughters are: Cynthia Douglas, Towanda, Pa., and Anita and Bill Carothers, Plymouth. His sons are: Byron and Sandra Thomas, Marion, South Dakota and Martin Thomas, Argos, Ind.
Ruth Thomas, Ken’s mother, of Freeman, South Dakota, and two brothers, Duane and Robert Thomas both of Marion, South Dakota, survive as well, together with nine grandchildren.
Ken was preceded in death by his father.
Friends may call at the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth, Ind. on Tuesday, January 25, 2000, from 1 to 3 p.m.
Ken’s funeral will follow visitation at 3 p.m. in the funeral home. The Rev. Willard Beren will officiate. Burial will be in New Oakhill Cemetery, Plymouth.
