January 12, 1930 - November 29, 2004

Kenneth “Kenny” C. Horn, Sr., 74, living at 13280 W. 4B Rd., Plymouth, died, following an extended illness, in Methodist Hospital, Indianapolis, Ind. at 12:30 a.m. on Monday, November 29, 2004.
Kenny lived his whole life in Plymouth, Ind. In addition to proudly serving his country, he was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He will be missed by them all.
Born in Plymouth on January 12, 1930, Kenny was the son of Ivan and Hazel Holmes Horn. He graduated from Plymouth High School with the class of 1948 and from Presbyterian College in Clinton, S.C., in 1952.
Kenny was in the United States Army from 1952 to 1954. As a First Lieut., he served his country in the Korean Conflict as an Executive Office for the 7th Calvary.
On November 27, 1966, Kenny and Rose Mary Snyder were married in the Trinity United Methodist Church, Plymouth.
For 25 years, from 1967 to 1992, Kenny worked at Conrail as a block operator for various towers in northern Indiana.
After his retirement, he stayed active in a number of organizations.
He was a lifetime member of VFW Marshall County Post 1162 and for many years he served on the Honor Guard giving tribute to fallen comrades. He also was a member of the Eagles, the Moose and the American Legion Post #27.
He served as Post Commander of Plymouth’s VFW organization from 1996 to 2003. During this time, he would volunteer and cook lunches for the members, something he continued up until the last two months when he became ill.
He enjoyed traveling and he and his loving wife, Rose Mary, took many trips across the country. He loved going to the baseball and softball games of his grandchildren to cheer their athletic activities on the ball diamonds. Kenny is survived by his wife and their three children. They, and their spouses are: Kenneth C. and Carrie Horn, Jr., Plymouth; Anne M. and Donnie Overmyer, Bremen; and Michael G. and Kristina Horn, Plymouth.
Four grandchildren also survive. They are Taiylor Horn, Zackery Horn, Karson Doll and Cord Doll. A brother, Larry and Cathy Horn, Bremen and a sister, Joyce Horn, Plymouth, together with many nieces and nephews, survive as well.
Kenny was preceded in death by his parents, his mother and father-in-law: Clara and Gordon Snyder and a sister: Elaine M. Horn.
Friends will be welcomed by Kenny’s family on Wednesday, December 1, 2004, from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth.
Funeral services in the funeral home will be at 10 a.m. on Thursday, December 2, 2004. The Rev. William Kaster, pastor of the Trinity United Methodist Church where Kenny was a member, will officiate.
Military graveside rites provided by the Plymouth VFW #1162 will accompany burial in Oakhill Cemetery, Plymouth.
Memorials to Kenny’s life and service may be made to the Trinity United Methodist Church, the Cancer Society, the V.F.W. #1162 or the American Diabetes Association.
