Kris L. Morcombe

August 13, 1947 — February 25, 2016

Kris L. Morcombe, 68, a nearly lifetime resident of Plymouth, passed away following an illness Thursday afternoon in the Richard L. Roudebush VA Medical Center at Indianapolis.

He was born the son of Jack Bruce and Ann Louise (Martin) Morcombe on August 13, 1947 in Cleveland, Ohio. The family moved to Marshall County when Kris was just the age of 5. He graduated with the Plymouth High School Class of 1965.

He then enlisted in the United States Army and served active duty from 1966 – 1969 continuing with reserve duties until 1972. Kris held lifetime memberships in the Plymouth American Legion Post 27 where he currently served as Adjutant and the Veterans of Foreign Wars – Marshall County Post 1162. His respect for those who served was evident as he was ever faithful in his participation with Honor Guard duties for fallen comrades.

On October 11, 1987 in Plymouth, Kris took as his bride, his best friend and soulmate, the former Robin C. Carr who survives.

He retired as the dairy manager after 22 years with the Plymouth Kroger Co. and then worked the next 10 years as a lead man for Tenneco AVI Packaging in Plymouth.

Kris enjoyed playing golfing, shooting pool, spending time with many friends, and was a faithful Chicago Bears Fan.

He loved the company of his family; wife Robin, children Brad A. (Kimberly) Morcombe of Plymouth, Chad L. (Jordan) Morcombe of Fishers, IN, Ryan J. (Nicole) Morcombe of Homburg, Germany, and eight grandchildren: Thomas Morcombe, Hannah Morcombe, Hope Morcombe, Lars Morcombe, Janine Kiefer, Kassie Koch Tiffanie Fleck and Austin Fleck. His siblings include: Marti Lantese of St. Louis, MO, Jeff (Charlene) Morcombe of Goshen and Nancy (Brian) McCallen of Plymouth along with many nieces and nephews.

Kris was preceded in death by his parents and infant daughter Renee Lynn Morcombe.

A memorial gathering of family and friends is planned for Saturday, March 5th from 1 – 4 p.m. in the Plymouth American Legion Post 27 located at 1040 E. Jefferson Street. A service will begin there at 2 p.m. led by Chaplain Jeff Holtzclaw follow by military honors and taps.

Burial will take place in the New Oak Hill Cemetery, Plymouth.
