
Larry Dwight “Light Pole” Birk, Jr, 48, of 10682 Hawthorne, Lot 21, died at his residence on Thursday, July28, 2011.
Larry was born in Plymouth on February 16, 1963, the son of Larry and Margaret Schmeltz Birk, Jr.
He graduated from Plymouth High School with the class of 1981.
“Light Pole” enjoyed watching racing on TV and attended the New Paris Speedway regularly.
He is survived by his mother, two daughters and a son. His daughters are Michelle (Richard) Barngrover, Argos, Ind., and Berniece Birk, Plymouth. His son is Corey (Denise) Birk, also of Plymouth.
Larry is also survived by five grandchildren, Jada, McKenzie, Cheyenne, Corey and Destina.
Four brothers and three sisters also survive. They are brothers: Tim (Lori) Birk, Bremen: Jeff Birk, Plymouth; Jody (Heather Birk), Plymouth: and Brent (Wendy) Birk, La Paz.
His sisters are Margo Wallace, Plymouth, Wanda (Moses) Alvelo, North Carolina and Susan (Ben) Swihart, Penn.
He was preceded in death by his father and his grandparents: Ralph and Lena Birk and Cecil and Bertha Schmeltz.
The Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth, is in charge of funeral services which will take place at a later date.
