Larry “Robert” Nifong, 85, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 25, 2026, at Center for Hospice Care, Raclin.
Larry was born on May 27, 1940, in Plymouth, Indiana, to John C. and Loretta (Harley) Nifong. He graduated from West High School with the class of 1958. On May 4, 1980, he married Sarah at the Church of the Brethren in Plymouth. She preceded him in death on February 26, 2025.
Larry was well known for his strong work ethic. He was a lifelong dairy farmer and also retired from Nisco. After retirement he went work the County Highway part time. A man who would try to connect with everyone he encountered, and for that reason, he was extremely well-liked and admired. He knew the value and the importance of family. Larry instilled and lived out a God-fearing lifestyle as an example for his children and grandchildren.
He enjoyed mushroom hunting, watching basketball, roller skating, fishing, and was truly proud of his accomplishments with his Indiana State Fair Grand Champion prize-winning cow, “Dolly.”
He is survived by his son DeWayne (Jennifer) Nifong; Kelly (Brad) Lips; step-children: John C. (Nadine) Oliver; Susan (Scott) Martello; Timothy (Darci) Nifong of Plymouth; Angela (Luke) Pearish; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well as his brother Ronald Nifong.
Robert is preceded in death by his parents, wife, daughter, Kimberly Jo Nifong, and his brothers, Ross Harley and Cyrus Loren, and great grandchild Evelynn Nichole.
Visitation will be held on Monday, February 2, 2026, from 11-1 pm at the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan Street, Plymouth, IN 46563. Funeral services will immediately follow with Pastor Scott Yoder officiating.
Burial will take place in the New Oak Hill Cemetery, Plymouth.
