Lee W. Reid, 83, 12915 St. Road 17, Culver, where he had lived since 1965, died from a short term illness at 10:30 a.m. in Miller’s Merry Manor, Plymouth on Friday, May 21, 2004.
A lifetime Marshall County resident, Lee was born in Tyner, Ind., on January 8, 1921, the son of Arbie and Eva Sheaks Reid. He graduated from Tyner High School.
He was a veteran, serving with the United States Navy in World War II as an Electrician Mate.
On September 13, 1941, in Teegarden, he was married to Elaine I. Baughman. He then married Millie E. Colvin in Tyner on October 9, 1965.
Lee worked as a Union roofer and later, in sheet metal. He was a member of Local 20, South Bend and had been employed with Lawmaster Roofing. He retired in 1983 from Midland Engineering of South Bend.
He enjoyed fishing and mushroom hunting. He hunted for game and bowled with several leagues. He played a good game of cards and was a whiz at horse shoes.
He was a former member of the local Moose Lodge.
Lee is survived by his wife, Millie and by two sons and two daughters. His sons are Curtis and Sharon Reid of Cadillac, Mich., and Steven Reid of Culver, Ind.
His daughters are Donna and Rick Hartle, Plymouth and Jary and Mike Bailey, Bremen, Ind.
Two step sons, ten grandchildren, four step-grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren also survive. Two sisters, Irma Schultz, Mishawaka and Mavis Shank, Tyner, together with numerous nieces and nephews, survive as well.
Lee was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers: Ora Reid, Earl Reid and Harry Reid and a step-daughter.
Visitation with the family to celebrate Lee’s life will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, May 23, 2004 in the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1110 N. Michigan St., Plymouth and one hour prior to funeral services on Monday.
The Monday services will be at 11 a.m. on May 24, 2004, in the funeral home. The V.F.W. will provide military graveside services.
Interment will be in New Oakhill Cemetery, Plymouth.
Memorial gifts in Lee’s memory may be made to the Marshall County Cancer Fund.
