Linda "Lin" Hall

April 24, 1943 — July 17, 2025

Plymouth

With great love and deep sorrow, we announce the passing of Linda “Lin” Hall, who left this world peacefully on July 17, 2025, after a brief but brave battle with cancer. Lin was 82 years old.

Born on April 24, 1943, in Chicago, Illinois, Lin was the eldest daughter of Tom and Mary Murphy, who preceded her in death. She grew up in a lively household in northwest Indiana as the oldest of five siblings: Harry Murphy (partner Linda Hendrickson) of Schererville, IN; Gerry Kottka of Schererville, IN; Bobbi Sunderbruch (who preceded her in death, married to Joe Sunderbruch); and Denise Murphy of Merrillville, IN. Lin graduated from Highland High School and later attended Bryant Stratton Business College.

In 1967, Lin married the love of her life, Terry Hall, in Highland, IN. They shared many joyful years together until Terry's passing, and their love lives on through their two children: Kim Patton of Hendersonville, TN, and Jim Hall (Susie Sheridan-Hall) of Mishawaka, IN. Lin was the proud and doting grandmother of five grandsons who brought her endless joy: Brandon, Ryan, Jason, Justin, and Kevin Hall. She also cherished her many nieces and nephews who added so much color and connection to her life.

Lin had a way of making everyone feel like family. Whether you were a friend, neighbor, or distant relative, you were welcomed into her heart without hesitation. She never met a stranger and was known for her warmth, kindness, and sense of humor.

Affectionately known as the “Card Lady,” Lin was famous for her thoughtful notes, birthday wishes, and holiday greetings. She believed wholeheartedly that "it’s nice to get something other than a bill in the mail," and she made it her mission to brighten the lives of others one envelope at a time.

Family was everything to Lin, and her life was a testament to love, generosity, and connection. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of those she touched, and her absence will be deeply felt.

A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Michael Catholic Church, 612 N. Walnut Street, Plymouth, Indiana, 46563 on Thursday, July 24, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., with a visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. All are welcome to come celebrate Lin’s beautiful life and spirit. Burial will take place in the New Oak Hill Cemetery, Plymouth.

The Hall family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Southern Care Hospice for the compassionate care and support they provided to Lin in her final days. In lieu of flowers, donations in Lin’s memory may be made to Southern Care Hospice, 1626 E Day Rd, Mishawaka, IN 46545, so that others may continue to receive the same comfort and dignity Lin was blessed with.

In Lin’s honor, consider sending a card to someone you love — just as she would have done.
