Lois May Compton went to be with our Lord on February 7, 2026. She was 97 years old. Lois was born on May 20, 1928, to Michael and Mary Bauman in Mishawaka, Indiana. She was the last survivor of her nine brothers and sisters: Ellen, Michael, Howard, Alice, Lawrence, Ruth (lived less than a year), Joan, Doris, and Robert.
Her father was a barber in Mishawaka, but when the depression hit, they moved to Marshall County. Lois’s first memory of Plymouth was stopping at Centennial Park to have a picnic lunch and sliding down the Curly Slide.
Lois was an active volunteer for the Bluebird’s Camp Fire Girls, an organization that her daughter Lynnette belonged to. She also was President of the local chapter of AARP for seven years. Lois retired from the Plymouth Foundry in 1993 after working many years as a Payroll Bookkeeping Clerk.
Lois married Robert ’Bob’ Compton on February 5, 1953. She was previously married to Cecil Fall and had two children, Michael (Debbie) Fall and Lynnette ‘Lynn’ Fall. She and Bob raised Mike and Lynn along with their son Greg Compton.
She is survived by her son Gregory (Jennifer) Compton, along with her grandchildren John Compton, Meredith (Eric) Muse, Robert Neal Compton II, Samuel Compton, Megan (Josh) Hammond, Quinn (Heath) Bowman, Casey (Rick) Guerra, and Collin (Courtney) Fall, along with her ten great grandchildren (including one on the way!).
She is preceded in death by her husband Robert ‘Bob’ Compton (1981), her son Michael ‘Gator’ Fall (2021), and her daughter Lynnette ‘Lynn’ Fall (2022), along with her nine brothers and sisters.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 14, 2026 from 11-1 pm at the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan Street, Plymouth, IN 46563. Funeral services will immediately follow with Fr. Kevin Bauman officiating.
