Lois Jean Weidner

September 25, 1930 - September 19, 2006

Lois Jean Weidner, 75, of 722 E. LaPorte St., Plymouth, died at 10:12 a.m. on Tuesday, September 19, 2006, in the Saint Joseph Medical Center, Plymouth following a cancer related illness.
Lois was born the daughter of Cecil J. and Esther E. (Cool) Umbaugh in Argos, Indiana on September 25, 1930. From the time she was born, she always wore a smile.
Her gentle kindness, generosity of spirit and concern for others, endeared Lois to everyone who knew her.
A lifetime Marshall County resident, Lois graduated from Argos High School with the class of 1948.
On June 6, 1953, in St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church, Plymouth, she and Earl G. Weidner were married. For over 53 years she has been a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She also remained an active member of the church and of the ladies Altar Rosary Society. For many years Lois served as a secretary with the First Source Bank of Marshall County. In her retirement she enjoyed taking daily walks with her longtime friends and time spent in the company of family and friends.
Surviving is her husband Earl, their seven children and families.
They are: Kevin D. and Carolyn Weidner of Glendale, Arizona with children Christy and Kelly; Karen E. Prebys of Greenwood, Indiana with son Ryan; Kerry S. and Jacqui Weidner of Milford, Indiana with children Joshua, Jordan and Alyssa Weidner and Emma and Fred Hoyle; Kathleen A. and Ken Thomas of Chesapeake, Virginia; Karol L. Weidner of Virginia Beach, Virginia; Karla J. and Fred Malecki of Granger, Indiana and Keith A. and Jill Weidner of South Bend, Indiana. Also surviving is a sister, Ercell and Morris Zink of South Bend, Indiana and two brothers: Dick and Bernice Umbaugh of Plymouth, Indiana, and Gerald and Shirley Umbaugh, Manhattan, Kansas, along with several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be welcomed by the family to celebrate the life of Lois Weidner on Friday, September 22, 2006, from 3 to 8 p.m. in the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth.
A Rosary will be prayed at 7:30 p.m. in the funeral home.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Michael Catholic Church, at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 23, 2006. The Rev. Father William Kummer will officiate.
Burial will follow in New Oakhill Cemetery, Plymouth, Indiana.
Preferred are memorial gifts in Lois’memory to the American Cancer Society – Pancreatic Cancer Research, 535 W. Edison Road, Unit 6, Mishawaka, Indiana 46545, the Center for Hospice and Palliative Care or St. Michael Catholic Church.
