Lois O. Davenport, 86, 2375 Lilac Rd., Plymouth, a lifetime Marshall County resident, died of natural causes in the Bremen Health Care Center at 10:55 a.m. on Tuesday, July 16, 2002. Lois was born in Bourbon, Ind., on Christmas Eve, Dec. 24, 1915. She was the daughter of Charles O. and Mary V. Dillingham McCollough. She graduated from LaPaz High School with the class of 1934. In her parents home, north of LaPaz, on Mar. 23, 1939 , Lois became the bride of Don L. Davenport. Don died on Jan. 30, 1999 . A homemaker, assisting in the family’s farming operation with her husband, Lois also had worked at the Blue Bell store in Bremen . She loved gardening and always had a large vegetable garden, canning the produce for her family. She prized the summer times spent in Wisconsin , fishing, relaxing, playing euchre (a game she enjoyed) and being with her husband and children. Lois is survived by her five sons and their spouses. They are: Don K. and Karen Davenport, Avon Park, Fla., Jon L. and Nancy Davenport and Steven M. and Regina Davenport, all of Plymouth, Ind., Robert L. and Cheryl Davenport, River Wood, Ill., Sam D. and Faye Davenport, Mishawaka, Ind. Nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren also survive together with two sisters, Mary Thomas, Bourbon and Catherine Baker, Mishawaka. Ann McCollough, a sister-in-law of LaPaz, survives along with numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and four sisters and two brothers. They are: Daisy Hartman, Fay King, Fern Zimmerman, Gladys Berkeypile, Harry and Clyde McCollough. Visitation with the family and a celebration of her life will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday, July 19, 2002 , in the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St. , Plymouth . Funeral services will be conducted by the Rev. Norman Replogle, pastor of the Pine Creek Church of the Brethren where Lois attended services, will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 20, 2002, in the funeral home. Burial will be in New Oakhill Cemetery , Plymouth . Memorial gifts in Lois’ memory may be made to the Pine Creek Church of the Brethren, North Liberty, Ind.
