Lola I. Hess

April 1, 1921 — June 22, 2005

Lola I. Hess, 84, a Garden Court East resident at 501 Pennsylvania Ave, Plymouth, IN. Formerly of Charleston, South Carolina, she died at 1:50 p.m. on Wednesday June 22, 2005 in Bremen Community Hospital, Bremen, Indiana, following an illness.

Born the daughter of Ora Herbert and Mazie Dyer Stephens in Milroy, Indiana on April 1, 1921.

Lola was married in Richmond, Indiana on January 22, 1947 to Harold M. Hess who preceded her in death on August 22, 1991. A homemaker, she was extremely fond of making ceramics and won several National Awards for her creativeness in making fine pieces of work. Her work was enjoyed by all that knew her, as she would make pieces for family and friends.

Before moving to Plymouth she was a loved member of the Ashley Church of God in Charleston, she enjoyed reading her bible and listening to her precious Christian music. Upon moving to Plymouth she became a member of the United Pentecostal Church of Bourbon.

Lola is survived by two daughters and one son, they are Ann Mays of Plymouth, Indiana, Barbara Campbell of North Liberty, Indiana, and Robert (Anne) Hess of Charleston, South Carolina, nine grandchildren, twenty great-grand children, and five great-great grandchildren.

Proceeding her in death were her parents, spouse, a daughter Jeanie Stephens, and sister Woneda Coers.

Visitation with the family will take place on Monday June 27th, 2005 from 9-11 a.m. at the United Pentecostal Church, Bourbon. Funeral services conducted by Pastor Mark Cottrill will follow at 11 a.m. in the church on Monday.

Burial will be in the New Oak Hill Cemetery, Plymouth.
