Lydia D. (Lee) Taber

Lydia D. “Lee” Taber, 80, 2124 N. Michigan St., a resident of Plymouth since 1942, coming from North Judson, died at 1 a.m., Tuesday, January 29, 2002. Lee died, following an extended illness, in St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, Plymouth. Born on May 22, 1921, in North Judson, the daughter of Sam and Pia Landi Seghetti, Lee graduated from North Judson High School. On April 11, 1942, in North Judson, she and Raymond C. Taber were married. Ray died on May 13, 1986. She was a homemaker and a devoted mother to their two daughters and loving grandchildren. In earlier years, Lee enjoyed swimming, dancing and continued to enjoy playing duplicate bridge. She crocheted, knitted and was an excellent cook and pie baker. A volunteer for the Marshall County Red Cross, Lee was a former member of Delta Theta Tau. A member of St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church, Lee had been active in the Altar Rosary Society. She is survived by two daughters and two grandchildren. Her family members are: Donna Rae and Robert Whitmer, Plymouth, Janet E. and Roger Leap, Converse, Ind., and their daughter, granddaughter Kelsey Lydia Leap, a Ball State University student, and grandson, Chad Raymond Leap, a student at Indiana University, Kokomo. A brother, Bruno Seghetti and a sister, Ann Spenner, both of North Judson, and several nieces and nephews survive as well. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Friday, February 1, 2002, at the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow visitation at St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church, 625 N. Center St., Plymouth, at 1 p.m. on Friday. The Rev. Father Anthony Gillespie will officiate. Burial will be in New Oakhill Cemetery, Plymouth. Memorial gifts in Lee’s memory may be made to St. Michael’s Church.
