Margaret A. Cox

November 3, 1914 — December 7, 2006

Margaret Azalia Cox, died of natural causes in her home, 13180 Queen Road, in the company her beloved family, at 3:22 p.m. on Thursday, December 7, 2006. Margaret, 92, had previously resided on S. Olive Trail.

She was born in Rensselaer, Indiana, on November 3, 1914, the daughter of George and Clara McGuire Scheetz.

Growing up she attended Rensselaer Schools and graduated from Plymouth’s Lincoln High School with the class of 1932.

On January 8, 1935, in South Bend, Margaret and Raymond E. Cox were married. Raymond died on the tenth of July, 2003.

A homemaker and longtime co-owner and operator of Ray’s Furniture, Margaret enjoyed gardening and was praised as an accomplished flower lady. She was especially adept at raising and cross breeding varieties of iris and shared her bountiful talent with others. Family remained her most important asset.

She and her husband collected post cards of County Court Houses from all over Indiana, and photographs of barn roofs sporting shingle art. They would drive all over to see the unique art form.

A loving grandmother and a great-grandmother, she had the patience of Job when dealing with her little ones.

Margaret is survived by a daughter and a son-in-law and their spouses. They are: Carol Jean and Phillip Beatty and John and Patti Coyer, all of Plymouth.

Her five grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren also survive. They are: Dan and Kathy Coyer, Plymouth, and children, Amanda and Sarah; Jeff and Jennifer Beatty and children, Mary Elizabeth, Mandy, Lynndie and Katie also of Plymouth; Joan and Rich Seaman of Fort Wayne; Jennifer and Paul Connolly with their children Christyn and Cameron; Julie and Steve Harrell with Haley, Ashley and Drew, all of Plymouth. Four great-great grandchildren survive as well.

Harriet J. Scheetz, a sister-in-law of Plymouth and nephew Tom Scheetz also survive.

Margaret was preceded in death by a daughter, C. Eileen Coyer on March 10, 1993 and a brother, Bernard F. Scheetz on November 25, 2003.

Family services for Margaret will be held at a future date.
