Margaret Ann Potts

May 28, 1947 - October 19, 2018
In Memorial

Margaret Ann Potts made her journey home on October 19th, 2018 after saying her final goodbyes to all she loved. Predeceased by her brothers Columbus Franklin (Mary) and Larry Thomas (Donna) Haynes. Survived by her husband, Thomas Everett Potts; sister, Era Elaine Loftis (Farlie); four children, Rebecca Kay Miller (Kyle), Rhonda Elaine Harris (Spencer), Ronald Wayne Potts (Tammy), and Richard Charles Potts (Lisa); nine grandchildren, Sabra, Derek, Alexandra, Margaret, Thomas, Zachary, Spencer, Ashley, and Alexea; and five great-grandchildren Kaiyah, Michaela, Eva, Aubrie, and Ezekiel.
Margaret was born in Tyronza, Arkansas to Delmer Ellis and Lila Beatrice Haynes on May 28th, 1947. At 16 years of age Margaret met Thomas and they began their lives together. They wed on January 1st, 1964. Shortly after, Margaret stepped into motherhood and simultaneously balanced her career, but what we remember her by is not the places she’s lived or the jobs she’s worked.
We remember her by the life and love she gave us all. She had the ability to make moments ever so sweeter with her candies, fudges, puddings, and chocolate biscuits and gravy. Her stubbornness and no bull-crap attitude always helped us to know where she stood and what was on her mind. She was an amazing Nana first and foremost and a force to be reckoned with (or not to be reckoned with). She loved crafting and creating, and you could often find her in the woodshop, near a hot glue gun, or pulling fabric through a sewing machine. Margaret’s ankles were never without the yappiest little dogs which made a quiet conversation almost impossible at her house, but to her they were her “precious babies”. She was afraid of water but loved the beach. Her nails were always painted, and her hair was never a terrible mess. She wore jewelry but was not a flashy or overly fancy woman. She spoke loudly, she yelled, and she cussed a little. Where ever she was it always felt like home and life won’t be the same without her. In the words of Margaret, “It will all work out how it’s supposed to,” and “You’ll just do it.” Simply and straightly that was our Nana. The Celebration of Margaret’s Life will be held at Plymouth Wesleyan Church, 11203 Michigan Road, Plymouth, IN at 11 A.M. on Saturday October 27th. Her ashes will be laid to rest next to her father at Lakeside Cemetery in Lakeside, Michigan.
