Margaret Maxine Olson

August 14, 1940 — March 23, 2008

Margaret Maxine Olson, 67, 15405 Tuxedo Drive, died of natural causes in Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center, Plymouth, having fought a courageous eight year battle against an incurable lung condition, at 10:03 p.m. on Sunday, March 23, 2008.

An attractive, intelligent, vibrant woman with a lot of determination and a great sense of humor, Margaret was born on August 14, 1940, in Princeton, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Andrew and Audrey Maxine Pogue Bullis.

She graduated from Princeton High School and earned her B.S. from Saint Cloud State University in 1962.

Margaret and her high school sweetheart, Richard Olson, were married in Princeton on July 18, 1958.

A teacher for 32 years, she first taught school in Lewiston, Minnesota, then in St. Paul. She taught math and science for 13 years at LaVille High School, before resigning in 1996.

With more free time, she turned her energies to her passion, genealogy research. Self-taught on the computer, she helped many of her friends learn the system.

She loved to travel and made several trips to England and Ireland.

She was a woodworker, building furniture and creating detailed doll houses for her granddaughters. She did tole painting and was an expert in various needle crafts. Margaret liked to sing and played the piano with ease. She was an excellent bridge player and competed in championship flights of golf at the Plymouth Country Club where she was a member for over 20 years.

The Olsons have three little dogs that she loved very much: Tia, Misty and Maggie, will miss her tremendously.

Margaret is survived by Dick, her husband of 49 years and by their four children, 13 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Her children and grandchildren are: Lisa (Tim) Miller, Plymouth and their children, Diedra, Connor and Bryce: Kristi (Kevin) Schmidt, Lake Mills, Wisconsin, and their children, Kyle, Owen, Caitlin and Bethany: Steven (Kitty) Olson, Indianapolis, Indiana and their children, Cheyenne, Megan and Sierra and Kari (Joe) Englert, Cincinnati, Ohio, and their children, Lauren, Kelsey and Tyler. Also surviving are two sisters: Andi Lou (Rick) Dahle, Clear Lake, Wisconsin and Dru Ann (Andrew) Faith, St. Cloud, Minnesota.

Margaret was preceded in death by her parents.

Friends are invited to share memories and celebrate the life and courage of Margaret Maxine Olson on Wednesday, March 26, 2008, from 2 to 4 p.m. in the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth.

Funeral services for Margaret will follow visitation at 4 p.m. in the funeral home.

Burial will be in New Oakhill Cemetery, Plymouth.

Memorials in Margaret’s name may be made to the Boys and Girls Club of Marshall County.
