Marilyn Jo Carter

Marilyn Jo Carter, 84, and formerly of Hillcrest Avenue, passed away with family by her side at 9:20 a.m. on Sunday, December 25, 2016 in at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center- Plymouth Campus.

Marilyn “Jo” was born in a family of 16 brothers and sisters in Oblong, Illinois on December 27, 1931 to Allen and Ellen “Nettie” (Weck) Sanders. On October 3, 1952, Jo became the wife of William Donald “Don” Carter. He would precede her in death on October 14, 2007.

A wonderful homemaker, Jo loved taking care of her two boys and husband. She was a member of the Plymouth Wesleyan Church for 12 years, and would help count offerings on Monday. Jo served as president of the Senior Class at the church, president of the Christian Women Club, and a 21-year Chairman of (Special Features) Christian Women. Her joy was serving others and her family.

Jo is survived by two sons: Bradley W. (Michelle) Carter, Argos, Indiana and Jeffery H. (Treasa) Carter of West Virginia; 7 wonderful grandchildren and 2 great-grandsons; her brother, David (Jill) Sanders of Apopka, FL, and many nieces and nephews; and dear friends, Sue Mitchell, JoAnn Servis, June Allen and Betty Mart.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, 7 brothers and 8 sisters.

Per Jo’s wishes, graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, December 29, 2016 in the New Oak Hill Cemetery, South Michigan Street, Plymouth. There will be no viewing or visitation prior.
