Marjean A. Kain

March 5, 1928 - February 14, 2004

Marjean A. Kain, 75, 313 Marlou Place, Plymouth, died, following an illness, at 3:45 a.m. on Saturday, February 14, 2004, in the Americare Living Center, Elkhart, Ind. Marjean was the bride of Floyd D. Kain when she came to Plymouth from her home in Sheboygan, Wis. She was born on March 5, 1928, in Sheboygan, the daughter of Clarence and Althea Kohl Winter. She graduated from Sheboygan North High School.
On June 6, 1954, Marjean and Floyd D. Kain were married in Sheboygan. Floyd died on September 25, 1975.
Marjean worked for the Marshall County Division of Family and Children, retiring in 1995. She had also worked in the Marshall County Clerk’s office for several years.
Very much involved in her church, the First United Church of Christ, she was a member of the Women’s Circles of the church, the Excelsior Class, the Retirement Group and had served as the Festival and Worship committee chairman, as well as serving on many other committees of the church. Her family was her life, and she enjoyed participating in her children and grandchildren’s activities.
She was a crossword puzzle fan and a member of the Plymouth Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star.
Her children and her grandchildren were very special people in her life. They are, a son and his wife, Rikki and Katherine Kain and their children: Matthew, Benjamin and Austin Kain, all of Elkhart.
A daughter Candace and her husband, Fred Bechtel who also live in Elkhart, with their daughters, Amanda and Emelie Bechtel.
And Janelle and her spouse, Dan Batta who live in Sunman, Ind. Their children, Nicole Batta is a student at Purdue, while Sarah Batta and Alicia Batta live in Sunman.
Marjean was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
The family will welcome friends to share memories and honor Marjean’s life from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth, on Friday, February 20, 2004. A special Eastern Star service will be held at 8 p.m. Friends may also visit with the family at the church on Saturday, one hour prior to the service.
Funeral services conducted by the Rev. John M. Gantt, interim pastor of the First United Church of Christ, 321 N. Center St., Plymouth, will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 21, 2004.
Interment will be in New Oakhill Cemetery, Plymouth.
Memorial gifts in Marjean’s memory may be made to the First United Church of Christ.
