Martha June (Overmeyer) Roberts, entered Heaven peacefully on Sunday, December 11, 2022, to join her husband Glen E. Roberts who preceded her in death in April of 2019.
Edward and Olea (Deck) Overmeyer celebrated their third child, Martha June on June 23, 1933, in South Bend Indiana. Martha grew up in South Bend and attended local schools until her parents moved the family to Bourbon Indiana where she graduated Salutatorian of Tippecanoe High School.
While in her senior year of high school, she met the love of her life Glen. On May 27, 1951, Martha and Glen married, locating in Rochester Indiana. They moved several times over the course of a few years, and welcomed eight children, Linda (Jerry) Manges, Glenda Roberts, Dianna (Robert) Swenson, Pamela (Chris) McCord, Judy (Mike) Shivers, Robin (Kathy) Roberts, Roger Roberts, and Mary Cristine Nutley Roberts.
An energetic, generous, and compassionate woman, Martha devoted her life to serving others. Her greatest source of pride and joy was found in her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She loved cooking and baking and hosting family parties over the years. Everyone who knew Martha experienced her home-made cinnamon rolls and apple dumplings. If someone was suffering a loss, celebrating an event, or needed the warm embrace of comfort food, Martha was in the kitchen making her specialties. Although she will be deeply missed, Martha leaves behind a wonderful collection of memories that her loved ones will cherish forever.
Martha and Glen spent their early years raising their children in Argos Indiana where they built a new home on the farm. Martha taught her children sewing, crocheting, decorating, baking, and the work that came with living on a farm. Martha enjoyed playing the piano by ear. She ensured her children could also play and loved to hear them sing. These talents were shared at the local church they attended. Both Martha and Glen were deeply religious, and raised their children to be Christians. Martha and Glen stressed education and strong work ethics. These standards lead all of the children to graduate from college and prepare them for the future.
Martha and Glen built their final home in Culver Indiana where they lived on Lake Maxinkuckee during the summers and Auburndale Florida during the winters. Glen loved to fish, allowing Martha time to walk, visit with friends, and entertain. She loved most of all being with her children and grandchildren.
Leaving to mourn her memory are her seven children, and their spouses. Martha’s legacy includes 36 grandchildren and spouses and 32 great-grandchildren. Martha’s passing was preceded by her husband Glen, her parents, and her sister and brother, Doris St. Clair and Richard Overmeyer.

I was very sorry to read this, your mother has always held a special place in my heart. But then again, all of the Roberts and Overmyer families were special growing up. In all of my years, I never saw your mom or dad without a smile on their face. They were both very loving and very gracious people. I am saddened for your loss, but I know you rejoice that they are reunited in heaven. What a special gift to your family, especially during this Christmas season. Prayers for strength as you navigate the future.

We were so blessed to meet your mother at the home of Mike and Judy. She was so sweet and kind. I always think about how much a mother does every day to raise 8 children, because I grew up in a family of 8 also. Deeply sorry for the loss of your dear mother. Chuck and Peggy Sullivan.
