Martha M. Ault

March 24, 1906 - December 4, 2002
In Memorial

Martha Marie Ault died of natural causes in the Walnut Creek Nursing Home, 309 Kingston Drive, Plymouth, at 6:50 p.m. on Wednesday, December 4, 2002. She had lived in Plymouth for the past eight years at 1816 Hope Blvd. , coming from Knox where she resided for 30 years, formerly living in Chicago . Martha was 96 years old. Born the daughter of Albert and Amanda H. Berg Kendall on March 24, 1906 , in Ladysmith , Wis. , Martha attended schools in Wis. and Ind. , and graduated from Culver High School with the class of 1923. She attended Valparaiso University for a year. Martha worked as a secretary in the Culver Military Academy prior to her marriage on September 24, 1928 , in Chicago , to Harry Hugh Ault. Married, 55 years, Harry died on December 28, 1983. She also worked with handicapped children while living in Chicago and following retirement age she was a sales clerk in a Chicago Sears store. As a homemaker and mother, Martha sewed, making clothing for her family and Mission fields. She enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening. An avid reader, she spent time reading the Bible and learning about different subjects. With her daughter she attended the First Baptist Church of Plymouth as well as the Plymouth Brethren churches in Chicago and Knox. Martha is survived by her daughter, Elaine Marie Henderson, Plymouth, and a son, Roger Dale (Jane) Ault, Oaklawn , Ill. Granddaughters Amanda J. Ault, Oaklawn , Ill. , Carol E. (Brian) Slager, Merrionette Park , Ill. , and grandson, Stephen Howard Henderson, Plymouth , survive as well. Three great-grandchildren: Matthew and Scott Slager and Ashley Henderson also survive. Martha was preceded in death by her spouse and Carl Ault, an infant son. Two brothers, Herman and Albert Ault and a son-in-law, Howard Henderson have also died. Visitation will be held on Friday, December 5, 2002, from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth. Funeral services, officiated by the Rev. Lonnie Nicholl pastor of the First Baptist Church, will be held in the funeral home at 11 a.m. on Saturday, December 7, 2002. Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery, Knox, Indiana Memorial gifts in Martha’s memory may be made to the First Baptist Church.
