Mary Margaret Jackson

Mary M. Jackson, 78, passed away peacefully on April 16, 2026, at Pilgrim Manor Nursing Home in Plymouth.

She was born on August 22, 1947, in Indianapolis, Indiana, to Howard and Mary (Good) Jackson. Mary graduated from Shortridge High School in Indianapolis with the Class of 1965. She went on to pursue her passion for education, earning her bachelor’s degree in education and later a master’s degree in library science. Mary dedicated 45 years to the Argos School Corporation, where she inspired generations of students before retiring in 2014.

Mary was someone who was always on the go. More than a librarian, she was a gifted storyteller who traveled to children’s camps, bringing stories to life with the books she carried wherever she went. She also loved to travel, exploring destinations across the country and abroad—often accompanied by her students. Known affectionately as “Ms. J,” Mary made such a lasting impression that former students would often recognize her wherever she went.

She was an excellent host to family and friends, an avid gardener, a devoted educator, and a loyal friend to many.

Mary is survived by her sister, Judith (Arthur) Cieslak of Plymouth, and her companion, Rockie Levi of Plymouth.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Robert Jackson.

Per Mary’s wishes, services will be private.
