Mary L. (Halt) Crocker, 92, passed away on Saturday, July 11, 2020 at Miller’s Merry Manor, Plymouth.
Born August 31, 1927 to Fred and Irene Halt in Lapaz, Indiana. Her mother died when she was 7 years old and thereafter she was raised by her aunt and uncle, Nelson and Nellie Seltenright. Mary graduated in 1945 as valedictorian from Lapaz High School. On August 31, 1947 she married Bill Crocker and they made their home on a farm near Plymouth where they managed a classified guernsey herd. They have five children, all college graduates. The children are Linda (Jim) Arnold of Easton, Maryland; Christine Crocker of Locust Grove, Virginia; Kenneth (Sara) Crocker of Durham, New Hampshire; Joyce (Joe) Warnacut of Locust Grove, Virginia; and Marcy (Dan) Bare of Kettering, Ohio. Mary worked at H&R Block in Bremen for 20 years and was active in Plymouth Wesleyan Church. Mary was known for her kindness. She loved having kids around her and delighted in making them laugh and learn. She knew how to make a house a home, and had an incredible green thumb which was obvious from her garden and lovely flower beds. Survivors include her five children, brother Elmer Halt of North Liberty, Arlene Seltenright Sellers of Knox, brother-in-law Ben (Mona) Crocker of Morton, IL, and 10 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Mary was preceded in death by Nelson and Nellie Seltenright, Leo Seltenright, and Homer Seltenright.
Per the family’s wishes, an immediate burial will take place in the New Oak Hill Cemetery, Plymouth.
