Mary Lou Burgess

July 13, 1940 — January 4, 2019

Former Plymouth resident, Mary Lou Burgess, age 78, residing in Bloomington, Indiana went to be with the Lord on January 4, 2019. Many of her close friends fondly referred to her as “LuLu”.

Daughter of the late Kenneth and Mary Janis Hallman, Mary Lou was born in Chicago, Illinois on July 13, 1940.

Mary Lou lived in South Bend, Indiana for many years serving as a caregiver employed by various nursing homes as a licensed LPN. She especially loved classical music and was a gifted piano player with a beautiful singing voice. While living in Pittsburgh in the 1970’s she was proud to sing with the Mendelssohn choir of Pittsburgh. Following in her mother’s footsteps, Mary Lou was a gifted seamstress and also enjoyed knitting. She had beautiful penmanship and frequently sent wonderfully handwritten notes to family and friends. She was an active member of the Emmanuel Precept Bible Study Group in Bloomington, Indiana.

Mary Lou leaves behind many beloved family and friends. Surviving are three sons and their families: Daniel and spouse Michelle Burgess of Granger, Indiana; Jack and spouse Gina Burgess of Eugene, Oregon and their children, Preslee (age 12) and Jagger (age 10); Spenser Jordan and spouse Kendall Jordan of Chantilly, Virginia and their daughters Kate (age 12) and Mia (age 9); Brothers and their spouses: Daniel and Diane Hallman of Landrum, South Carolina; Jack and Jackie Hallman of Westerville, Ohio; William Hallman and Marie Ferraro of South Bend, Indiana. In the care of family members are two sweet little dogs that Mary Lou adored named “Red” and “White”.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, January 19, 2019 from 10:00 a.m.- 12:00 p.m. at the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 North Michigan Street, Plymouth. Funeral services will follow at 12:00 p.m. with Life Celebrant James Smart officiating. Burial to follow at the New Oak Hill Cemetery, Plymouth, Indiana.
