Nancy Louise Hoon

September 22, 1943 — January 24, 2022

Nancy Louise Dunlap Hoon passed away peacefully on January 24, 2022, at Lake City Place in Warsaw, IN. She was 78. Nancy was born in Argos, Indiana on September 22, 1943, to Rae Louise Umbaugh Dunlap (mother) and Edward Huber Dunlap (father). She grew up in Plymouth, Indiana, attended Webster School, graduated from Plymouth High School and attended Valparaiso University with a major in literature.

Nancy enjoyed her young life in Plymouth, close to her family, neighborhood playmates, school friends, grandparents, aunts and uncles and many cousins. She was an avid reader, spending considerable time at the Plymouth Public Library. Centennial Park and Pretty Lake were other favorite places. Her interests throughout life were reading, writing poetry, and swimming. She happily packed a lunch and hiked out to the countryside with her sisters and friends.

In 1975 Nancy married Ross Edwin Hoon in West Lafayette, Indiana, where they made their home together for 18 years. Throughout her life, Nancy cared for her pets and fostered others. She flourished in a peaceful environment in Indiana close to home. She was a wonderful light in this world.

Her sister Patricia Dunlap Hamalainen survives Nancy. Her nieces, Galia Robinson Chandler and Leija Louise Hamalainen; and nephews, Timothy Olavi Hamalainen, Kai Edward Hamalainen, John Edward Robinson and Alan Damian Robinson; and grandnieces and grandnephews also survive her. Her sister, Melinda Dunlap Robinson Campbell, and her husband, Ross Edwin Hoon, preceded Nancy in death.
