Mary S. Atkins

January 16, 1963 - October 10, 2022

Mary S. Atkins, 59, passed away peacefully at 2:40 p.m. on Monday, October 10, 2022.

Born in Gary, Indiana on January 16, 1963, Mary was the daughter of Ira George and Mary Jane (Mitchell) Nick. She graduated from White’s Jr-Sr High School in Wabash, Indiana.

She was a driver for the Marshall-Starke Development in Plymouth for many years until her health declined.

Mary’s heart and soul was being with her grandchildren and family. She had a fun loving, hippie spirit. She was a “Mom” to all. The doors of her Plymouth home were always open and adopted many kids as her own as the years went on. Her children have embraced this trait and always have their homes open to anyone in need.

Mary enjoyed playing cards and rolling dice. She also loved getting all dolled up and getting a new set of nails.

She is deeply missed by her children: Brian Nick of Bremen, Savannah (Bryan Collins) Nick of North Liberty, Samantha (Michael Catlin) Clemons of Woodburn, IN; stepchildren: Shannon, Nicole, Brandon and Tyler; grandchildren: Marissa, Noah, Logan, Xavier, Amerie, Lyryc, Nataley, Kadience, Katelyn and Gracie; siblings: Martha Harrison, Billy Nick and Robert Nick; ex-husband and good friend Faron (Tara) Atkins and extended family.

Mary was preceded in death by her grandson Landen Sarabia, her parents, and siblings.

A Celebration of Mary’s life will be held at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, October 19, 2022, at Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan Street, Plymouth, with Chaplain Wyatt Smith officiating. Friends are welcome to visit with the family prior to the service from 1-3 p.m.
