Maynard Books

May 1, 1926 - March 13, 2017

Maynard “Buddy” Books, 90, of Plymouth, passed away Monday, March 13, 2017 in the Miller’s Merry Manor-Walkerton.
Maynard was born May 1, 1926 in Plymouth, Indiana, to the late Curtis and Winifred (Hattery) Books.
He has been married almost thirty years to Carmen Montez; and she survives in Walkerton.
Maynard at one time was a cab driver in Plymouth, as well as working in different factories throughout his life. Maynard’s nickname was “Buddy” and everybody knew him because he rode his three wheel bike all around Plymouth. He had a sign on the back of his bicycle that said “Hugs not Drugs”. Maynard’s best quality was helping people with addictions and was a major force in the recovery community of Plymouth. Surviving is his wife; Carmen Books of Walkerton, fifteen nieces, nephews, and a host of great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great nieces and great-great nephews.
Buddy was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers; Fremont and Glen Books, and three sisters; Pearl Grey, Virginia Harner and Ethel Clietz. A memorial service for Maynard will take place on Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at 11:00 AM in the Chapel at the New Oak Hill Cemetery.
Burial will be in the New Oak Hill Cemetery.
