
Mildred E. Balding, 99, passed away peacefully at 1:45 p.m. on Friday, December 16, 2022, at Pilgrim Manor Nursing Home in Plymouth.
She was born in Rockville, Indiana on March 6, 1923, to Harley and Eva (Stalker) McHargue. She graduated from Rosedale High School in 1941.
On July 31, 1942, in Rosedale, Indiana, Mildred married Robert A. Balding. The couple would move to the Plymouth area that same year. The couple would raise six children: Mark, William, Marjory, Thomas, Karlena and Pamela.
She was a loving and devoted mother and wife. After the kids had all left the home, Mildred worked at the Tyner Grocery Store part-time from the age of 55-75.
Mildred enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and playing music on her guitar. She was a founding member of New Song Community Church.
She is survived by her daughters, Marge Burkholder, and Karlena “Sue” (Rick) Guffey; 18 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and sister Marjorie Yeargin.
Mildred was preceded in death by her husband Bob in 1984; sons Thomas, Mark, and William: daughter Pamela; and brothers Charles and Arnold McHargue.
Visitation will be held from 11-1 p.m. on Wednesday, December 21, 2022, at Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan Street, Plymouth. Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. with Pastor Rich Schieber officiating.
Burial will be in the Tyner Cemetery, Tyner.
