Ora Lee Prater, 90, passed away peacefully on June 21, 2025 at home with her granddaughter, Drendalyn, by her side. Born on May 3, 1935 in Columbus, OH, Lee's journey began amidst adversity as she spent her formative years in a children's home. However, her spirit and resilience shaped the extraordinary life she would come to lead.
She would meet Sherman Prater, Jr. and they were united in marriage on January 7, 1977 in Knox. Lee was the proud owner of Levine’s Clothing Store in LaPorte, a testament to her passion for fashion and entrepreneurship. In the late 1980s, she and Sherman founded Pioneer Automotive, leaving a lasting impression on the Plymouth area.
A woman of refined taste, Lee had a keen love for collecting, with notable interests in Thomas Kincaid art, Fenton Glass, Precious Moments figurines, and a variety of sports memorabilia. She enjoyed the pleasures of life and embraced the joys that came from her hard work.
During the winters, Lee and Sherman would escape to Florida, enjoying the warmth and the company of dear friends, Kevin and Teresa Bock, with whom they shared many cherished memories.
Lee leaves behind a legacy of love and zest for life. Whether engaging in thoughtful conversations or lending a helping hand, she made a meaningful impact on everyone she met.
Lee is survived by her daughter, Theresa Stigler; grandchildren, Drendalyn Stemen, Johnathan Stigler, and Siamuel Stemen; and great-grandchildren, Jordan, Nolan, Dailyn, Kylee, Isaac, Peyton, Jacob and Chloe.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Sherman.
Per Lee’s wishes, no funeral services will be held.
