Patsy A. Kruyer

July 16, 1935 - September 3, 2005

Patsy A. Kruyer, 70, lost her long and courageous battle with cancer at 3:05 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 3, 2005. Pat died at her residence, 612 Pearl St., Plymouth.
A lovely woman –inside and out—she was always friendly and kind to people –strangers, as well as those she had known all of her life.
A lifetime Plymouth resident, Pat was the daughter of Fayne Smith and Dorothy Miller Schuster. She was born in Plymouth on July 16, 1935, and graduated from Plymouth High School with the class of 1953.
On Dec. 27, 1963, in the First United Church of Christ of Plymouth, Pat and Jim Kruyer were married.
Pat was a familiar and popular person in Plymouth, serving the public at G&G Grocery –later Miller’s Grocery– in the produce department. She also had worked for Xaver Cleaners and, for years, was in the antique business. She and her daughters, Amme, Lorre and Emyle had antique booths around northern Indiana for many years.
She enjoyed flower gardening and traveling with “The Seven Saints”, long-time high school friends—-. She enjoyed taking vacations with friends –and everyone loved having her in their company.
“Pat was,” they said, “a breath of fresh air and always fun to be around.” Pat was an accomplished and talented seamstress, and she loved to go to auctions where she bought items for her extensive antique collections. Pat was an avid reader and enjoyed movies of all types.
She enjoyed putting together parties for her family, complete with delicious food, card and board games and entertainment of all kinds.
She was a long time member of Plymouth’s chapter of the Eastern Star.
Pat is survived by, Jim, her husband of 42 years and by her six children, four daughters and two sons.
They are, daughters: Amme and Larry Girten, Plymouth; Julee and Andrew Alderfer, Rochester; Lorre Osborn, Plymouth, Emyle and Michael Kruyer-Collins, Plymouth. Her sons are Michael Samuels, Warsaw; and James and Laura Kruyer, Jr., Plymouth.
Also surviving is her mother, Dorothy Miller Schuster, her step-father, Lewis (Bud) Schuster and a brother, David and Keiko Kain, all of Plymouth.
Sixteen grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren also survive.
Pat is preceded in death by her father, Fayne Smith and granddaughter, Jocelyn Schlosser
Friends will be welcomed by the family at the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth, on Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2005, from 4 to 8 p.m., and at 7 a.m. on Wednesday until 8:30 a.m. There will also be calling at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, prior to the funeral services for Pat which will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2005, in the First United Church of Christ, 321 N. Center St., ,Plymouth.
Burial will be in New Oakhill Cemetery, Plymouth.
