Paul Hayn, 94, went home to be with his Lord on Wednesday, February 17, 2021 surrounded by his family. Born on July 19, 1926 in South Bend, Indiana, he was the son of Jacob and Mabel (Rumsey) Hayn.
He attended Tyner High School graduating with the class of 1944. On January 18, 1947 he married Dorothy Pontius in Osceola, IN. She preceded him in death in 2015. They were married for 68 wonderful years.
Paul worked for Oliver’s in South Bend before he became a full-time dairy and grain farmer. He loved traveling the world with Dorothy and his favorite trip was to Australia and New Zealand. Paul and Dorothy built a house in Sebring, FL and wintered down there for 20 years. He enjoyed driving his tractor in the Blueberry Festival Parade. Although he enjoyed all of these things, nothing compared to spending time with his family at gatherings. He would want his grandchildren and great-grandchildren to know how proud he was of them. He was a member of Pretty Lake United Methodist Church, and his church family was very important to him.
He is survived by his children: Earl (Brenda) Hayn of Pelion, SC; Deb (Dan) Martin of Plymouth; Cheryl (Ron) Humes of Argos; Ron (Julie) Hayn of Plymouth; Dale (Laurie) Hayn of Plymouth; Michelle (Vince) Hoffman of Culver; brother Donald Hayn of Argos; sister Mildred Kruse of FL; 14 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Paul is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Dorothy, sisters: Helen, Mary, and Ruth, grandson Paul and a great-grandson Cody.
Visitation will be held on Friday, February 26, 2021 from 11-1 pm at the Pretty Lake United Methodist Church, 8985 State Rd 17, Plymouth, IN 46563. Funeral services will immediately follow with Pastor Tamara Boggs officiating.
Burial will take place in the New Oak Hill Cemetery.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Pretty Lake United Methodist Church, P. O. Box 266, Plymouth, IN 46563 or to Kindred Hospice, 1476 W. 18th Street, Rochester, IN 46975.

Dear Deb, Dan and all the Hayn family,
My deepest sympathy in the loss of your father. When I think of him, I think of his smile above all else. No wonder he and your mom were married for 68 years. His smile and her laugh are etched in my memory. Please know that you are all in my thoughts and prayers. Love to you all,

So sad to hear of Paul’s passing. We are lifting his whole family up in prayer. Treasure all of your wonderful memories. The Morris family and the Hayn family have been friends since our days at Trinity Church. I have always respected his knowledge of the Bible. He was a beloved member of PLT and will be greatly missed. Enjoy your heavenly reward Paul.

To all the Hayn kids… you are all in my thoughts and prayers during this time. We all had great church families growing up and they all took care of us. I can remember getting into some troubles once in awhile and your dad treated me just like one of his own. He was always so happy to see me when I was home from Kentucky visiting my mom and dad. Sending many hugs and prayers from Ohio, and extra hug to Deb. Love you all.

The Hayn family.
Deb and I are sad to read about Pauls passing into his eternal home. I loved Paul and Dorothy as they opened their arms and welcomed my family into theirs and Pretty Lake Trinity Church family. Paul was a great witness to me on how to be a good Christian man. I know you all will miss him, but we all know Paul is home with Dorothy, plus the PLT Sunday school family having a party! Love, you all. Mike and Deb Dixon
