Paul K. “Bud” Haag

February 25, 1929 - October 29, 2022

Paul K. “Bud” Haag, 93, passed away on Saturday, October 29, 2022 at home surrounded by his loved ones.

Born on February 25, 1929 in South Bend, Indiana he was the son of Paul D. and Margaret S. (Burden) Haag. He attended Tyner High School, graduating with the class of 1947. Paul proudly served his country in the Army during the Korean War and was wounded receiving the Purple Heart.

On January 13, 1952 he married Betty Shafer in Tyner, she preceded him in death on December 7, 2008. Paul raised Angus cattle starting in 1965. He was also a local Ironworker and retired with local 292. He was especially proud of his work of the Bridgeman Plant in Michigan and the Culver Academy Library.

Paul had a wonderful memory, remembering just about every detail on everyone that he met. He was a well-organized man and took pride in everything that he did, and for that he was well respected by many. He adored his great-grandchildren always having candy for them.

He enjoyed watching basketball, football as well as reading the Draft Horse and Angus Journals. Paul was a member of the Disabled American Veterans #42, American Angus Association and Plymouth Church of the Brethren.

He is survived by his daughter: Margaret (James) Berger of Plymouth; daughter-in-law Peggy Haag of Plymouth; grandchildren: Jeremy (Jenny) Haag of Charlo, MT; Chad (Erica) Haag of Plymouth; Kimberlee (Clint) Schnitz of Leland, Il; Jason (Lorie) Berger of Plymouth; great-grandchildren: Jacob, Drew, Aleigh, Matthew, Clayton, Corbin, Weston, Tinley; sisters: Jayne Colvin and Nancy Bagarus; special friend Maurine Miller.

Paul is preceded in death by his parents, wife Betty, son Michael, sisters: Phyllis and Jean

Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 6, 2022 from 2-5 pm at the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan Street, Plymouth.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 7, 2022 at 11 am at the funeral home with Pastor Tom Anders officiating.

Burial will take place in New Oak Hill Cemetery with Military honors rendered by the U.S. Army and the Plymouth Am. Legion Post #27.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Michael Haag 4-H Beef Scholarship, 2680 Miller Drive STE 120, Plymouth, IN 46563 or to the Plymouth Church of the Brethren, 1130 N Michigan St. Plymouth, IN 46563.

    So sorry to learn of Bud’s passing. Mother (Lorraine Haag Jones) always spoke about the good times they would have growing up and then in later years at gatherings. Peace be you you all as you bid him farewell. Karen Jones Kaser

    So sad to hear about Buds passing. I met him through the drug store that I was working at. What a wonderful person he was.
