Paul V. Dipert

Paul Vern Dipert, 86, 230 Leslie St., Plymouth, died in Miller’s Merry Manor, Plymouth, at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 2, 2008.

Born in Walkerton, Ind., on December 13, 1921, Paul was the son of Vern and Mabel Barber Dipert.

He graduated from Plymouth High School.

On August 6, 1944, Paul and Beaulah Elizabeth Beyler Sherk were married. Beaulah died in 1987.

A dairy farmer, Paul bought his farm in 1950. He also was a punch press operator at Studebaker’s for 16 years, having started working there in November of 1942.

He also drove a school bus for Tyner/ Polk Township.

He was a fisherman and a bowler and enjoyed playing cards, especially the game of Euchre. Paul was a member of the Tyner Odd Fellows Lodge and the Church of the Brethren.

Paul is survived by two daughters and two sons. His daughters are Rebecca Dipert and Regina Dipert, both of Plymouth, Ind. His sons are step-son, Rodger (Bonnie) Sherk, Rochester, Ind., and son Douglas (Kathy) Dipert, Walkerton, Ind.

Two granddaughters, Beth ( John) Hilbert, and Betsy (Chris) Gardner and three grandsons: Ryan (Faith) Sherk, Justin (Sue) Dipert and Jason (Beth) Dipert, survive as well, along with eight great-grandchildren.

A brother, Gail (Jan) Dipert, Wellston, Mich., and two sisters, Betty (Carl) Coplen, Avon Park, Fla., and Ruth Ann ( Don) Anders, Plymouth, Ind. also survive

Paul was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, four brothers Deane Dipert, Richard “Bud” Dipert, Robert Dipert, and Roger Dipert, two sisters Maxine Thomas and Marian Paton, and a special friend Rita Anway.

Friends are invited to share memories and celebrate the life of Paul Dipert with his family at the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth, Ind., from 4 to 8 p.m.- on Sunday, April 6, 2008. A service provided by the Tyner Odd Fellows Lodge will be held at 7 p.m. Funeral services for Paul will be held Monday at 10:30 a.m. in the Plymouth Church of the Brethren. Pastor Ruth Yoder, will officiate.

Paul will be laid to rest next to his wife in the Oakhill Cemetery, Plymouth.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in Paul’s memory may be made to the Tyner Odd Fellows Lodge or to the Center for Hospice and Palliative Care.
