Rex Allen, Sr.

Rex Allen, Sr., 61, died of natural causes at his home at 2 a.m. on Wednesday, September 15, 2010.

Born on February 5, 1949, in Curtis, Michigan, Rex was the son of Alvin and Marian Etoile Griffith Allen.

On December 24, 1966, in Knox, Indiana Rex took Nancy Gilbert as his bride.

Rex worked and retired from the Indiana State Highway Department. He was a foreman and heavy equipment supervisor and worked there for 23 years.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting, boating and collecting antique firearms, coins and stamps. An outdoor person, he delighted in being outside and one with nature. He also had great love for his children and grandchildren.

He was a member of the N.R.A.

Rex is survived by his devoted wife Nancy, Plymouth, and by daughters Coni (Jay)Dubois of Houma, Louisiana: Tonia (John) Gould of Camarillo, California, and son Rex Allen Jr. of Culver, lndiana.

Seven grandchildren: Kayla, Kasey, Bobbie Campbell, Whitney and Miles Gould, Josie and Keegan Allen and one great-grandchild, McKenzie Lawton.

Two sisters, Gracie Cole of Plymouth, Bonnie (Ronnie) Lee of Argos and two brothers, Pat (Pam) Allen and Russ (Georgia) Allen of Rochester survive as well.

Rex was preceded in death by one grandchild, Dustin Adam Allen and four sisters: Anna May Cole, Barbara McAlpine, Georgia Ash, all from Michigan and Roseman Swan of Indiana. Two brothers, Francis Griffin of Florida and George (Butch) Allen of Michigan have also died.

Visitation with the family will be held on Sunday, September 19, 2010 from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St in Plymouth a funeral service will be held at 4 p.m. immediately following visitation.

Burial will take place at a later date in the Burr Oak Cemetery in Culver Indiana.
