Ricardo Mata, 52, passed away on Saturday, October 30, 2021 at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, Plymouth.
Born on July 4, 1969 in Plymouth, Indiana he was the son of Marcelino and Maria (Longoria) Matta. Ricardo would go to work for the City of Plymouth Street Department at the age of 16 and continued with the Street Department until 1996.
On May 2, 1997 he would marry Tanya Kuntz and they would spend 23 wonderful years together. Ricardo will always be remembered as a people person, one that could tell a great joke and make others laugh. His family will hold in their hearts as one that had a big heart always willing to lend a hand and help anyone that ever needed it. His honesty and advice on life, creativity, determination to never quit and his work ethic. He was a wonderful provider for his family, and he loved his son Ryan dearly.
Ricardo loved to cook, watch Notre Dame Football, make model cars and he would want everyone to know that he loved watching T.V.
He was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church.
Ricardo is survived by his wife Tanya Matta of Plymouth; son Ryan Matta of Plymouth; as well as 11 brothers and sisters.
He is preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers and 2 sisters.
A celebration of life will take place at a later date.

Rick was more than a co worker at the street dept. I went thru severe trauma, he talked, consoled me, urged me to get help, for which I did. Rick always talked about his wife, the love ,I respected him so very much. I’m still in shock . My heart hurts for Tanya ,Ryan, and his whole family, a truly good man
