Richard E. Taylor

May 7, 1922 - July 14, 2012

Richard E. Taylor, Sr., 90, a lifetime Marshall County resident, died on July 14, 2012, in the Life Care Center of Rochester.
He was born to Thomas E. and Mary Mae Walterhouse Taylor on May 7, 1922 in Plymouth. He attended West Township School, and was an Army veteran of W.W. II. On December 14, 1940, Richard and Mary Ellen Warner were married in Plymouth. Mary preceded him in death on August 5, 2010.
He had been employed by Studebaker, Corale Corp. and Donnite, retiring in 1984.
He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, building dog and bird houses, working in his yard and garden and collecting model cars.
Richard is survived by a daughter, Beverly J. and Joda J. Hoeffer, Plymouth and two sons: Thomas E. and Janet R. Taylor, Plymouth and Richard E. and Julie Taylor, Jr., Nappanee.
Five grandchildren and one great-grandchild also survive along with a sister, Roma Jones and a brother, Walter “Mike” Taylor, both of Plymouth.
He was preceded in death by his parents, His wife, Mary, two sisters: Dorothy and Thelma and two brothers: Arnold and Ervin. Friends are invited to meet with Richard’s family on Wednesday, July 18, 2012 from 10 am to 12 p.m. in the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth.
Funeral services, officiated by the Rev. Charles Krieg, will follow visitation at 12 p.m. in the funeral home. Burial will be in New Oakhill Cemetery, Plymouth, with military honors provided by members of the Plymouth American Legion Post 27, Veterans of Foreign Wars – Marshall Co. Post 1162, the D.A.V and the Army Honor Guard.
Memorial gifts in Richard’s name may be made to the Marshall County Humane Society 11165 13th Road Plymouth, Indiana 46563.
