Rita L. Faulstich

January 8, 1922 - May 8, 2007
In Memorial

Rita L. Faulstich, 85, a long time Monterey, Ind., resident, died of natural causes in the Catherine Kasper Life Center at 11:20 a.m., on Tuesday, May 8, 2007.
Born in Logansport, Ind., on January 8, 1922, she was the daughter of James O. and Ruth M. (O’Herren) Daniels.
She graduated Salutatorian of her 1939 Logansport High School class.
On June 12, 1940, Rita was married to Lawrence G. Faulstich in St. Bridget’s Roman Catholic Church in Logansport. Lawrence preceded her in death on June 18, 1994. Their union was a lifelong partnership to build the strong and loving family which was her greatest pride and love. Providing the means for a higher education of their seven children was an important goal and accomplishment in their lives.
Rita was a homemaker and accountant for the family farm which they tended for 66 years.
A skilled woman, she embraced the advent of computer technology and was a devotee of e-mail as a means of keeping her extended family and friends in touch with the latest news.
She loved being with her family and following their many activities. She enjoyed all sports, especially the Cubs, and the Irish of Notre Dame. She played a great game of Scrabble and was an excellent card player with her various clubs.
While living in Monterey, Ind., Rita was a member of St. Anne’s Roman Catholic Church. She was a Eucharist Minister and active in the Altar Rosary Society. A warm and giving person, she donated many hours of volunteer work to St. Ann’s Elementary School, the Katherine Casper Life Center and the gift shop in Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center, Plymouth.
Rita is survived by her seven children and families: Michael G. (Janet) Faulstich, Plymouth: Rosemary R. Martinez, Michigan City: Ruth A. (Daniel) Hellman, Westminster, CO.: Regina M. (Thomas) Hudson, Tonka Bay, Minn.: Mark C. (Joyce) Faulstich, Plymouth: Rev. Matthew J. (Cheryl) Faulstich, Hollywood, Fla. and Lawrence L. (Kay) Faulstich, Plymouth.
Twenty-nine grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren survive as well, together with Janet Daniels, a sister-in-law in South Bend.
Preceding her in death were her husband and two brothers, Carl and Donald Daniels. Friends will be welcomed to share memories and celebrate Rita’s life with her family on Friday, May 11, 2007, from 3 to 8 p.m. in the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth. A rosary will be prayed at 7:30 that evening.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Rita will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 12, 2007, in St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Plymouth. The Rev. Father William Kummer will officiate.
Burial will follow in St. Anne’s Catholic Cemetery, Monterey, Ind.
The family suggests memorial contributions in Rita’s name be made to Ancilla College, P.O. Box 1, Union Road, Donaldson, Ind. 46513 or to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, 610 N. Michigan St., South Bend, Ind. 46601.
