Robert W. “Bob” Wilson, 83, ill with cancer for the past 6 months, died at the home of his daughter, Pat, in New Port Richey, Florida, at 10:04 p.m. on Friday, February 9, 2001, in the loving care of his family and the Hernando-Pasco Hospice of Florida.
Bob, lived in Plymouth from 1942 to 1958, and was a former resident of Lake of the Woods, Bremen, from 1958 to 1988. He had lived for the past 12 years at 13127 Coxswain Court, Hudson, Fla.
Born in Kewanna, Ind., on January 2, 1918, Bob was the son of Hugh H. and Zora A. Neff Wilson. He graduated from Kewanna High School with the class of 1935.
On June 28, 1952, in Peru, Ind., he and Zolana M. Nickerson were married.
Bob retired as a Detective First Sergent on June 1, 1966, after 24 years of service in the Indiana State Police force. He also served as an Indiana State Medical Licensing Investigator.
Prior to making Florida their home, he and his wife spent many winters in the Naples, Florida area and five years visiting Texas. Bob enjoyed fishing in Florida and hunting in Northern Michigan while spending time at his son Tom’s family cabin.
He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police and the National Rifle Association.
Bob is survived by his wife and two daughters. The daughters are Peggy L. and Carl Schweisberger, Bremen and Pat A. and Tom Gordy, New Port Richey, Florida. Shirley A. Wilson, a daughter-in-law, Bremen, also survives, together with eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas R. Wilson, a son, who died July 22, 2000, and two brothers, Louis Gene and Art Wilson.
Visitation will be on Saturday, February 17, 2001, from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth.
Memorial services will be on Sunday, February 18, 2001, at 2 p.m. The Rev. Dr. David H. Tripp, pastor of the Salem United Methodist Church, 302 W. Plymouth Street, Bremen of which Bob was a member, will officiate.
Interment will be in Bremen Cemetery, Bremen, Ind.
Memorials in Bob’s memory may be made to the Hernando-Pasco Hospice of Florida or the Marshall County Hospice.
