Roderick D. Gehrke, 62, passed away from health complications on Friday, December 17, 2021, at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Mishawaka.
He was born June 14, 1959, to Norman Herbert and Alexandria Charlotte (Runge) Gehrke in Chicago, Illinois. He graduated from Willowbrook High School.
He made California is home until 2015, and then relocated to Marshall County. Rod worked at Riverside County Sherriff’s Department for 19 years as a correctional food service supervisor. He would retire in 2009.
Rod is survived by his siblings: Kathleen (Gary) Sanders of Rockland, CA, Jeffrey Gehrke of Lake Havasu, AZ and Greg (Debbie) Gehrke of Apple Valley, CA.
Per his wishes, no services will be held.
He will be laid to rest next to his parents in the New Oak Hill Cemetery, Plymouth.

Our family knew rod from being neighbors. For many years in lapaz Ind. when rod needed help yard work etc or to just help clean up and pick up lumber my husband would go over and help him rod was a very careing person he would give some one the shirt off of his back to help others . He cared about everyone. You couldnt find anyone kinder then him. He would also give advice if you ask him .there was times I would be asked to come over to help him clean his van out and wash it.
