Russell C. Eck

October 1, 1926 — April 12, 2000

Russell C. Eck, Maple Road of Plymouth, 73, died at I2:15 a.m., Wednesday, April 12, 2000 in his home following a cancer-related illness. He had lived in the Plymouth area since 1959.

Born October 1, 1926 in Noblesville, he was the son of Leonard and Irene Fitzpatrick Eck. He graduated from High School in Cicero, Indiana and Purdue University with honors and a master’s degree in Civil Engineering.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy during World War II.

He was first married to Betty L. Smith and later married Dee Weaver Norris on December l, I9l3 at Sunrise Chapel in Plymouth.

Russell had been self-employed since 1965 as Russell C. Eck and Associates performing Land Surveying and Civil Engineering.

An owner of an airplane, Russell was a pilot and enjoyed flying. He had served on various committees throughout the years. He was a member of the Christian Center, South Bend. He was active in the American Society of Civil Engineers, South Bend as well as a member of the Local Surveyors Chapter of South Bend.

Russell is survived by wife Dee and three sons, Gary and Rose Eck of Walkerton, Jeff and Martha Eck of Osceola, Dave Eck of Mesa Arizona, and a daughter, Cynthia “Sophia” and Edgar Russell of Kalamazoo, Michigan. Two stepsons, Mike and Diane Norris, Bill and Lisa Norris and one stepdaughter, Lori and Steve Borders also survive.

Also surviving are nineteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren along with a twin brother, Robert and Doris Eck of Annapolis, Maryland. Russell was preceded in death by his parents, and an aunt and uncle, Esther and Fred Schlemmer.

Friends may visit with the family on Friday, April 14, 2000 from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth, and one hour prior to funeral services which will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, April 15, 2000 at Sunrise Chapel, 11802 Lincoln Hwy, Plymouth.

Burial will be in the New Oakhill Cemetery, Plymouth.
