Ruth T. Pletcher, 86, of Argos, passed away peacefully Thursday morning, January 14, 2016 at her residence. Ruth was born November 18, 1929 in Chicago, Illinois to the late Albert A. and Bertha (Permoda) Thomas. When Ruth was fourteen years of age, she moved to the Grovertown area, where she graduated in 1948. She was a wife, mother, grandmother, and a home-maker. On May 16, 1948 in Plymouth, she married Willard G. Pletcher, where they lived for eleven years before settling down in Argos. Ruth attended Southside Church of God, South Bend. For the last six years she has been attending Crossroads Evangelical Free Church. She also had taught Sunday school for many years. At one time, Ruth was a 4H leader for crocheting and embroidery in Marshall County for thirty-five years. She also enjoyed gardening, and sewing; especially for her grandchildren. Ruth also was a very active member of the Home and Hobby Club for many years. Her family was very important. She spent a lot of time with her grandchildren. Ruth was never too busy to help someone- people were more important than things.
Surviving is her husband of sixty-seven years, Willard G. Pletcher, of Argos, daughter and a son-in-law; Rebecca S. and David Hartman, of Plymouth, two sons and daughters-in-law; Stephen W. and Penny Pletcher Sr., of Culver, Timothy J. and Tisha Pletcher, of Plymouth. Also surviving are her ten grandchildren; Elizabeth and Rachel Hartman, Stephen Pletcher Jr., Cassandra Pletcher, Trenton, Tucker, Trevor, Thad, Trey, and Teagan Pletcher, two great-grandchildren; Isaiah and Wyatt Pletcher, and a sister; Loretta McClure, Warsaw. She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Kathleen E. Pletcher; and a brother, Albert Thomas.
The family will receive friends from 4-8 PM EDT on Tuesday, January 19, 2016 in the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan Street, Plymouth, and from 10:00 AM until time of service on Wednesday.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM EDT on Wednesday, January 20, 2016 in the funeral home with Pastor Scott Yoder and Pastor Greg Crump officiating.
Burial will be in the Oakhill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed to either the Gideons International, P.O. Box 140800 Nashville, Tennessee 37214 or to the World Missionary Press, 19168 County Road 146 New Paris, Indiana 46553.
