Lifetime Marshall County resident, S. Wayne Munn, 70, 7240 Union Road,  died, following an illness, at 4:45 a.m., Sunday, January 28, 2001, in Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center, Plymouth.

Wayne was the son of Rolland and Florence  VanPherson Munn.  He graduated from Tyner High School in 1948 and held many good memories from those years.

Manager of the basketball team and in the cast of the senior play, Wayne recalled his senior class trip and visiting the State House in Indianapolis where he served as a page for State Senator Harry Danielson.

A Corporal, he was on active duty serving as a cook in the United States Army from 1951 to 1953.

On Sept. 27, 1957, in the Plymouth Church of the Brethren, Wayne and Marian Myers were united in marriage by Rev. Homer Kercoff.

He worked as a warehouse foreman and truck driver for Syler Seeds, later known as Pilgrim Seeds, then CISCO, and he retired from TERRA in Sept. 1995, after a total of 39 years since starting with Syler Seeds.

A fifty-year member of the Blissville Church of the Brethren, Wayne was active as a Sunday School Supt.,  was a member of the Finance Board and Building Committee and also was president of the Happy Hearts class at the church for several years.

A member of the Tyner Alumni, Wayne enjoyed church activities, especially their annual ice cream socials and church bake sales.

Wayne is survived by Marian, his wife of 43 years, their daughter Laura and her husband James Vervynckt, all of Plymouth.  Rolland Munn, Wayne’s father, and Harold Zane and Dorothy Munn, a brother and sister-in-law, all of Plymouth, three additional sisters-in-law and several nieces and nephews also survive.

The joys of his life, seven Vervynckt grandchildren also survive.  Wayne had favored nicknames for them all. They are: Nathan “Beaver,” Jessica “Jess,” Jacob ”Chip,” Stacy “Small Fry,” Todd “Charlie,” Gabriel “George,” and Lucas “Luke.”

Wayne was preceded in death by his mother.

Friends of the family may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., on Tuesday, January 30, 2001, at the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan St., Plymouth.
