Sharon (Parkus) Spoor, 86, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, during a brief stay at Pilgrim Manor in Plymouth.

Sharon was born in South Bend on September 22, 1939, the eldest daughter of Evelyn and Leo Parkus. She attended Bourbon High School in the graduating class of 1957 and later lived on Pennsylvania Avenue in Plymouth for over 50 years.

On August 11, 1985, she married Ronald Spoor in Plymouth. Ron preceded her in death on December 2, 2011.

Sharon dedicated nearly 40 years working at Thermogas (later Ferrellgas) in Plymouth, where she was known as a friendly face to customers and a dear friend to her colleagues.

A die-hard fan of the Chicago Cubs, Sharon loved nothing more than watching her Cubbies. In fact, it’s believed she didn’t miss a game on TV or the radio for decades. She was a fan of many sports, particularly college basketball, tennis, and the Olympics. When she wasn’t cheering on a game, Sharon enjoyed quieter moments spent working on jigsaw puzzles or reading.

Sharon had a deep love for animals—especially her many cats and Schnauzers over the years—and a gentle appreciation for beauty, from the sight of lighthouses along scenic coastlines to the familiar comfort of an Elvis song playing on the radio. You may have also crossed paths with Sharon at gatherings of the Marshall County Democrats.

Sharon is survived by her daughters, Terri (Gene) Frazier of North Judson, Tammi Robertson and Christine Hurford, both of Plymouth; her son Mike Hurford of Monterey; and her step-sons, Vern Spoor of Houston, TX; and Randy (Debbie) Spoor of Plymouth; as well as a daughter-in-law Mary Behr of South Bend. Sharon is also survived by her loving sister Jan (Jack) Hofferth and Harold “Irish” (Sheila) Saunders. She very much cherished her 12 surviving grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. They include grandchildren Daniel, Marla, Melinda, Mikey, Matthew, Mark, Miranda, Camden, Travis, Tracy, Christopher, and Brian.

Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, step-father Harold Saunders, daughter-in-law Margaret Hurford, and granddaughters Gina Frazier and Morgan Hurford.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 31, 2026, from 11-1 pm at the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan Street, Plymouth, IN 46563. Funeral services will immediately follow with Camden Robertson officiating.

Burial will take place in the New Oak Hill Cemetery, Plymouth.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be given to the Marshall County Humane Society, P.O. Box 22, Plymouth, IN 46563.
