Shelly L. Bodine

June 27, 1970 - March 12, 2022

Shelly L. Bodine, 51, passed away on Saturday, March 12, 2022, at Center for Hospice Care in Mishawaka surrounded by the love of her family.

She was born June 27, 1970, in Knox, Indiana to Troy and Frieda (Stacy) Bailey. She graduated from North Judson High School with the class of 1989.

Through mutual friends, Shelly met James Bodine. The two would wed in Tennessee on November 21, 1997.

A loving wife and homemaker for most of her life, Shelly adored raising their four children. When she was left with an empty nest, she worked for the Starke County Jail as a cook for 5 years until she was medically unable.

Shelly was a gentle soul full of unconditional love. She was family-oriented and had a true servant’s heart. She was the glue that kept her family together, always hosting celebrations and get-togethers. Shelly adored her grandchildren and being with them all she could. She loved baking and just sitting and visiting with her friends. She attended Church of the Heartland in Starke County.

Shelly is dearly missed by her husband, Jim Bodine, and their children: Ellissa (Steven) Toby of Culver, Hannah (Blake) Bennett of Plymouth, Kaylee Bailey of Culver and Josh (Madison Porter) Bodine of Culver; grandchildren: Emmett Bennett, Ellah Bennett, Easton Bodine, Eli Bennett and Hayven Bodine; her mother, Frieda Bailey of North Judson; siblings: Kenny (Kim) Bailey, Roger Bailey, Kim (Scott) Lutz and Rhonda (Jimmy) Ahlenius as well as many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, Troy, and in-laws, James and Dee Bodine.

Visitation will be held on Friday, March 18, 2022, from 11-2 p.m. EDT at Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan Street, Plymouth. Funeral services will follow at 2 p.m.

My condolences to the whole family. Praying for them during this difficult time. Shelly was so young and beautiful. Her youngest son and my son always use to hang out. She was such a good person.

I don’t know her really. But I know Hannah her daughter, one of the nicest people and most wonderful nurses. If she made Hannah I’m sure she herself was a great person. Looking so young and beautiful! I can only say may her sole Rest In Peace and until we all meet again.
